Interactive Media Design Evaluation

Ahhh… Interactive Media Design. I wish this class were my life and hopefully, it will be. This is the future of Journalism. The internet has transformed a once restricted and two-way sequence of conversation between consumer and producer and turned it into an interactive media driven frenzy. I know that was a lot of adjectives but I don’t know how else to say it. There needs to be more classes like this at UNLV because students needs to realize that times are changing. More importantly, employers need to realize that too. There is no such thing as a print or broadcast journalist, those fields are slowly overlapping.

When I first came to UNLV I took Journalism 101. We read a book called Conversations on Convergence by Stephen Quinn. I didn’t understand this concept of congergence at all because in high school the only thing I learned about was print. It was only until taking this class until I experienced the convergence process and realized how true and real it is. There is a strange phenomena happening in my generations andd things are changing very rapidly. There’s needs to be this level of understanding about all aspects of art, media, entertainment and news because slowly these things are becoming one. The fact is that when people want their information it needs to be quick, convenient and presented in a way that is funtional and visually pleasing. We live in a culture of instant gratification. The more instant the information, the more gratified the consumer.

I can honestly say that I learned those concepts in this class. At first it was overwhelming thinking about all of the things were going to have to maintain, those of which I only maintained about half. I actually still hate Twitter and will probably not use it unless I’m paid to. I like blogging and I think once I get a theme and am comfortable taking pictures in public I will be a successful blogger.  I actually found a job listing reccently for a Social Media Consultant for a marketing company. I think as a young person, I need to excell at and taking advantage of this job.

Que bueno!
