Attendance and participation
Class attendance is mandatory and critical for keeping up in this intensive course. If you’re unavoidably absent, you are responsible for getting notes and handouts from a classmate, and for coordinating any collaborative assignments in a professional manner with your peers. A student missing a class or assignment because of observance of a religious holiday has the opportunity to make up missed work, but you must notify me early of anticipated absences to be assured of this opportunity. Students who represent UNLV at any official extracurricular activity have the opportunity to make up assignments, but you must provide official written notification no less than one week before the missed class.
Academic integrity
All work that you submit must be your own. I assume that you are familiar with and follow the university’s standards regarding academic honesty. The web provides easy access to other people’s work; thus, you must be particularly careful to acknowledge assistance by others. Please ask me if you have any questions about this. More information is available at http://writingcenter.unlv.edu/writing/plagiarism.html.
You cannot use other people’s photographs or writing except for very limited and special circumstances. You MUST always cite all sources. Using other people’s multimedia work without attribution is considered plagiarism.
Disability accommodation
If you have a documented disability that may require assistance, you will need to contact the disability resource center for coordination in your academic accommodation. See http://studentlife.unlv.edu/disability/ for details.
